Do social media have a positive or negative affect on your lifestyle today?

In today’s society, there is no doubt that social media have affected on our lives. In fact, there are many sorts of social media. (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, and, Messenger) Some people alert that chatting via these social media is more assuming, easier and addictive, while social media have some strength. In this essay, I will discuss both sides of argument, and then express my point of view. Basically, social media have a positive influence on our lives. One of the main reasons is that they make our lives convenient. A good example of that this can be seen in is speed of getting new information. If people use social media, it is significantly easy to know about what happened in the world. In past, there was only media like television and newspaper. However, social media have the stronger connection than normal media, because social media generally occur between friends, not between receiver and media. Moreover, thanks to development of social media, the interest of incident happened in the world have increased certainly today. According to a survey by mass media department at the University of Tokyo, young people who use social media as a tool of getting news have become interested in the news increasingly. On the other hands, social media have not just a positive effect, but also a negative effect. What I mean is that social media might be dangerous means of fight, such us strike, demonstration, and hooligans. In 2011, the London riots were caused by those who were enthusiastic and social media which were distributing information. Overall, I believe that social media have swings and roundabouts. Therefore, they have influenced positively and negatively.

I believe the various types of media can affect my family in a negative way because of all the bad news on television causes my parents to worry and not allow me to go out and all the bad language on television is bad for young children, such as my three year old cousin. My cousin is at the age now that she repeats everything she hears and sees. She hears someone using inappropriate language on TV and she thinks it is okay for her to say it. But the social media can have a positive effect too; there are so many positive and inspiring web sides, apps, and blogs, which have helped so many people to get through difficult times. TV shows for kids help them with the language, it made them enjoy and learn new things. So I believe it could be both negative and positive. Parents can reduce the negative effects by monitoring their children and what they hear and see, so they prevent the negative effect that have the social media.…

Due to the fact that people are significantly dependent on media nowadays, the enjoyment of in-person conversations is no longer familiar.
