a. I believe the categories are different between the two types of questionnaires because the SBAS is a self administered questionnaire while the BRFSS was administered by someone else. This could contribute to why the results were different, when you are asked questions you may answer them differently versus when you read and answer the questions yourself.
b. Two physical activity assessment settings where each instrument provides useful information are pedometers and a direct log. A pedometer is a great instrument to use while assessing your physical activity because it will count the amount of steps you take each day which will allow you to see how active you are. Next, keeping a daily log will also allow you to successfully track your physical activity because after your done with a workout or activity you can directly write it down and keep track of how long you were active and how many calories you burned.
c. Two instruments that would not work to provide useful information would be a calorimetry and motion detector because they are expensive and require a professional, where a regular person could not use them every day to monitor their physical activity. They can also be ineffective and not provide accurate results.
d. A research study that used the SBAS was, “Validation of the Stanford Brief Activity Survey: examining psychological factors and physical activity levels in older adults.” The study found results to provide evidence of the construct validity and reliability of the SBAS in older adults. The study also found a strong dose response relationship between regular physical activity and psychological health in older adults.
