To think that all these people were killed just because of how they looked or the religion they believed in is something horrible to think about. The holocaust violated a number of catholic social teaching principles but there were three major ones violated. The first is Life and Dignity of the Human Person. This principle was violated because it states "The Catholic Church proclaims that human life is sacred and that the dignity of the human person is the foundation of a moral vision for society". The principle of Life and dignity of a human person is the foundation of the catholic social teachings. This was violated because in the holocaust people's lives weren't valued at all. They were executed no matter what age or size they were which goes completely against that first catholic social teaching Principle. The second principle violated is Rights and Responsibilities. This principle says "The Catholic tradition teaches that human dignity can be protected and a healthy community can be achieved only if human rights are protected and responsibilities are met. Therefore, every person has a fundamental right to life and a right to those things required for human decency". This was violated because Hitler and Nazi Germany didn't obey their responsibilities as humans. The principle speaks on people's rights being protected and everyone being treated with decency but that didn't happen.
