Sometimes parents will not or cannot take care of their child, this requires the court to step in and the child is now dependent on the court for their safety. The goal of the courts are to make sure the well-being of a children is protected, place children in safe environments, seek permanent homes, and make sure to provide privacy and confidentiality for the children. In order to start a case, someone must report a concern regarding the welfare of the child. Once the report is made, a social worker or police officer are rewired to investigate. For the most part, the social worker is called in to investigate first, since they are experts in this field. They investigate by talking to the victim, the victim’s parents, family members and friends. They can talk to the child at school without any permission from the parent.
