which includes learning about ethical theories towards different issues. This means debates happen most lessons which not only broaden my debate skills, it also means that I am subjected to other people's opinions which I may not have ever heard before. This in turn made me far more open minded than I was before.
To become more familiar with what it’s like to be working with the general public, I volunteered at my local library last summer. This was the first time I had gained experience with working with the public which led me to broaden my communication skills when talking to people I had never met before. I was often only helping people with minor things such as finding a book, but the fulfilment I gained for something so small, made me realise that I wanted to help people as much as I can no matter how small an issue is.
Currently, I am working in a small pub which has furthered developed my communication skills on top of what I gained from volunteering. My job allows me to frequently talk to a wide variety of different people from different backgrounds. This has taught me the importance of the various approaches required to talk to different people, some people respond well to humour, others need a more direct approach. It’s this skill of being diverse in my communication that working that the pub helped me
