Sodapop is the best character in the book “The Outsiders”, because he genuinely cares about everyone in the story. No matter what the task if the gang or a brother needed a favor or some assistance he was always there. He has that cool that everyone loves, and is just a good guy. He is one of those people that anyone would look at and say I could love that face the book even says “Soda is more handsomer than anyone else I know(Hinton 7).”

When it came to family matters he would always be home when needed and would cook and help keep the house clean (mostly). But he was sort of like the alpha male of the family he would always take charge to make sure what needed to happen did, and what didn't need to did not. He kind of was the only parent that Ponyboy had, but he was also really the only person who genuinely cared about him besides Darry who didn't show his love for a long time. When Ponyboy was hurt and sick Soda was always by his side getting him food and medicine. When Darry was having a ruff day of had something like girl trouble on his mind it was always Soda to the rescue. This was all because he loved them both and cared for them. Without Sodapop at the family’s side the brothers wouldn't have had much of a home, well being , or a lot of getting along, they would have lots more conflict and tension that would not be resolved.
