Experiencing childhood in two unique cultures can be really tough particularly when you're young. you feel the need to pick one and more often than not are compelled to act differently on account of who you hang around, but as you get older you begin to see the advantages of having two which permits you to pick and chose. I am Somali and grew up in a Somali household and my people with regards to family vary all that much from the traditional American family. family is very important to the Somali community and the individual belongs to the group. Think of Somali and American family as collectivism versus individualism.
