Something I am good at
When I was introduced to philosophy about 5-6 years ago, I got my eyes laid on a subject that changed my way of seeing the truth in people’s minds around me. I was given a course about the unconscious and what was its role and how it affected our minds. But what was even more interesting, was the way our physical body interacts with what our minds thinks.

Here I discovered the urge to learn a lesson that allows me to control my body gestures in the right place with the right people under certain circumstances in order to get to what I am pointing to. Body language is the right tool that improved my communication skills in work meetings, job interviews, dates, family, kids…

This book, I fell in love with change my view of the social world we encounter every day and every minute we spend socializing. This made notice miniature gestures that allowed me to control the discussion such as knowing if the person I am talking to just told me a lie or if she really went out last night with someone else or not.

“The definitive book of body language”, (Pease, A. & Pease, B. 2004) taught me a lot about people and their behavior in society. Now I can stand in front of a group of 10 plus and convince them that I am confident, well prepared and not stressed at all even if I am, by showing their unconscious minds a few moves that I self-taught. But this was just the beginning, because body language is related to psychology, and psychology is another wide topic and another endless research, with every day discovering new knowledge concerning this topic and published by many resources on the internet and in many magazines as well.

In the daily social life, communication plays an important role in helping individuals to share ideas and strengthen their relationship. Except the words people used in the communication, body language is the other significant part of it. Body language is a special language that people use body changes to cooperate with their words to express feelings and emphasize ideas. Every single body language the person used will affect the result of his conversation, even though he does not aware of it. Obviously, effective as well as decent body language will help them set confidence and support from others. In order to explain how body language works, I choose an interview of Naheed Nenshi who is the mayor of Calgary. By analyzing his body language through the interview, we can see how he reacts with…

I was very interesting doing this assignment. I learned a lot watching people on how they dress, act or interact with others. In this assignment I watched people at my work which is a restaurant on the nonverbal codes and messages. In this area workers are supposed to give a certain standard on which people are pleased with in the end. In their own area they are supposed to keep up with their own work load. Which is taking care of the guests in their area, taking care of their work area, keeping stock up, etc. This observation was taking during their busier hours with are the weekends during 7pm-9-pm. The tables were well lit with candles and had the proper condiments needed. The tables were set close together so people had to sit in a close area. The décor was nice and accommodating. Overall the setting was nice and professional. I would imagine a lot of people would enjoy this scenery because of how hip but cool it is and still be professional.…

My body language, facial expressions and hand gestures, needs to suit the situation or topic. For example I might give a handshake, smile and a wave to a child leaving the session.
