Background
In the daily social life, communication plays an important role in helping individuals to share ideas and strengthen their relationship. Except the words people used in the communication, body language is the other significant part of it. Body language is a special language that people use body changes to cooperate with their words to express feelings and emphasize ideas. Every single body language the person used will affect the result of his conversation, even though he does not aware of it. Obviously, effective as well as decent body language will help them set confidence and support from others. In order to explain how body language works, I choose an interview of Naheed Nenshi who is the mayor of Calgary. It concludes some hands and fingers movements. In the interview, Naheed Nenshi uses lots of gestures. For example, when the interviewer asks "what you enjoyed your jobs so far?" his hands clenched in middle position when he is answering it. According to the book "body language", written by Allan Pease, "The gesture was a frustration gesture, signaling that the person was holding back a negative attitude."(page 39). Therefore, from this gesture, it reflects that Naheed Nenshi as the mayor of Calgary, he has lots of stress and takes his job seriously. Also, he is in a submissive palm position when he talks about the challenges that he faces and he says "I was mentioned in one of those people and actually now..." This post shows he does not feel any stress from this question, he would like to share his ideas. Furthermore, when he mentions "I think so far so good." He taps the desk. He tries to use this body language to causes other's attention and emphasize his main point that everything is so far so
