Some people view biological science as an area of science which is boring; requiring intensive memorization and less logical reasoning. True to my heart, my view towards biological science was no difference! It was not before my higher secondary school classes when I first realized the beauty of this scientific arena. I had my first glimpse at molecular biology then. But that brief introduction to molecular biology was enough to compel me to the idea that I want to spend my whole life working and conducting research on it. That passion and zeal brought me to where right now I am. I have successfully completed my masters from the Department of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, University of Dhaka. I want to note that very few universities offer courses related to molecular biology here in Bangladesh but University of Dhaka is the best among them.
I consider the admission in the department of genetic engineering and biotechnology as a turning point of my life. The pleasure that I used to get from unraveling the mysteries of life could not be compared to anything else. I was enthralled by the well balance of gene regulatory system. How a subtle change can lead to a life threatening disease like cancer; even a single base pair change can cause sickle cell anemia. The more astonishing is the pathogenicity of viruses, evasion of immune system by them. But the more I got to know the science, the more I started to feel my liability to the society. This knowledge I was acquiring should not be only to know the world around me but to change the world. It is about 30 years and there is no prevention for HIV, despite the recent advancements the cancer patients are still agonizing. I just cannot only acquire knowledge to get a good job; there are lots of things to do. And the positive changes that I aspire to bring in the world can only be done by a researcher. And to be a researcher there is no alternative to gain specialization through a PhD. So I
