Source Analysis #1
Kelly, Musick. "Are Both Parents Always Better Than One?Parental Conflict and Young Adult Well Being." Rural New York Minute [New York] 04 2009, n. pag. Web. 10 Oct. 2012. <http://devsoc.cals.cornell.edu/cals/devsoc/outreach/cardi/publications/upload/04-2009-RNYM.pdf>. I think that this source will give me the pro’s and con’s I need for my paper. It will tell me why some people think it’s better to live with both parents and why some say one parent is best. Kelly Musick is an Associate Professor in the Department of Policy Analysis and Management in Cornell University. She studies the patterns of family and their well-being. She believes that two parents
is better than one because she thinks that family is most important than anything. This will affect the way she writes about family and she will probably have more pro’s than con’s about dual parents. The publisher of this newspaper is the Cornell University New York Minute and they are mostly known for their headline stories. They usually post what is most current at the time. This newspaper is from April 2009 so it’s not old but not current. I think this newspaper is for anybody interested on the information. It is not hard to understand so any advocate, newbie, specialist, or opponent of the topic could easily understand it. The type of information that was not included was interviews. I would have liked to see stories of adults that were raised by a single and dual parents. It would have been very interesting to see their view points. It would have also been a lot more interesting if they would have included examples of maybe known people that were raised by a single or dual parent because we would have known what their experiences were like.
