The article that I have chosen to summarize is “Can We Just, Like, Get Over the Way Women Talk?” written by Ann Friedman. In this article Ann Friedman discusses how women are undermined because of the way they talk. What she means by this is women are not taken serious when they speak because of the tone they speak in, choice of words they use, and low confidence that is used when they speak. Some specific examples of this are women saying the word “sorry” too much, saying the word “like” too much, and not saying their statements or opinions confident and bold enough. Patricia explains that bullying isn’t only done in person but in fact can be done over the web in the internet. In addition technology these days is advancing to a certain extent that people can communicate over the web and send messages to each other. Rob Banks explains in his article how bullying is a major problem in schools and talks about how to a certain extent the problem leads and also the characteristics of the bullies and the victims. They work the same jobs with the same amount of effort as their male counterparts but, even with all the same qualifications, women still drew the short straw. Women have experienced a historic situation of inequality in the social as well as professional aspects. Women are normally the ones that would take care of the children, do the household chores, and in rural areas; they would work in the field with the rest of the family. Just like how the Breaking Barriers article states, “from an early age, girls are dressed in pink boys in blue.
