Speech On Human Trafficking At The Salvation Army
Good Morning Trinityhouse Randpark Ridge.
I am Kiara Kissoonlal and I work with the organisation called The Salvation Army. This organisation fights against human trafficking.
Human trafficking is the illegal movement of people from one country to another, people that have been lied too and taken for the use of forced labour or commercial sex exploitations.
Human trafficking is caused by the push factor like the natural disaster or conflict that has occurred in one country and people seeking for a better life and a pull factor like social and economic opportunities. Poverty is the main reason cause for human trafficking and many members or people that are vulnerable are taken under false pretences or hope for a better life. Another cause is that many people are uneducated and are desperate for money.

One of the main violations is the sex violation. Many woman and female children have been sexual assaulted. They have been been abused psychologically and sexually. Being sexually assaulted violates the right to life, liberty, integrity and security. These women and children are promised an appropriate job but are taken to be used a sex slaves. Sex trafficking is the modern slavery. Many of the victims are isolated, abused, disorientated and confused.
The Salvation Army is an organisations that raises funds for human trafficking victims. We raise money so that we can help victims to get the necessary psychological and medical care required to make it back on too their feet. The Salvation Army also older victims to come and help the most recent victims. We allow victims to have a voice, to make a difference. We add hope for those who need hope to carry on the fight to stop this major violation.
