As you are listening to me, you might not think that today is the day that all women have the right to education. It is quite easy to just say that all women have a right to education. I’m not talking about just one country; I am talking about all the countries around the world. There are over 25 countries where women are not allowed to attend schools. People who try help this cause or other causes are called teen activists.

What is a teen activist? A teen activist is a teen who helps in community organizing for social change. Teen activists mostly speak out about problematic things or things that will become problems in the future. Teen activists spread the word about their causes by speaking out for them. There are over 2.5 million teen activists in the world. One of the most known teen activist is Helen Keller.

When she was 11, she started blogging about the Taliban takeover of her hometown Mingora, in northwestern Pakistan. Taliban members follow an extreme version of Islam. They believe girls should not go to school. So, the Taliban shot Malala in the head hoping to kill her. The Taliban chose to shoot Malala specifically because she was going to school and telling women that they could go to school. The shot to the head lead to paralysis on the left side of her face. Though she had recovered, she still preaches about women's right to education. She wrote a book about her life(biography) called “I Am Malala”. In the book, Malala talks about her encouragement from her parents and how she became known. She became popular from being the youngest nominee to get the Nobel peace prize.
