On Saturday 19th of may a group of students went to represent the College at the Duke of Yorks cup for athletics. There was a lot of effort put in by everyone, with people doing events they are unfamiliar with and succeding at it. A few of the outstanding first place winners were Toby Udofia, Moshope, and Sarita Gurung. Although we did not come out first place everyone in the team should be credited on their team spirit and great performance.

In tennis the under 14 team started their season with a win against the King's Rochester team with a score of 6 sets to 3. On saturday they played a remarkable match against Duke of Yorks winning all sets; special mention must go to Olivia Collins who stepped up to replace an ill member in the second pair. For the majority of them this season was the first time they have played tennis for the school so to be able to come out with 2 wins is a great achievement, we hope they will continue to have the same enthusiasm throughout the rest of the season.

The under 15 team have also started with a very promissing season winning the Granville League Tournament with a great score of 18 making up 6 games, the whole team should be credited on their performance as they applied all the skills which they have learnt during practise sessions. With a win against Kings Rochester the Under 15s continued to be successful in their fixtures; this was also follwed by a close match against Duke of Yorks, although it was the toughest match so far the team came out victorious winning 5 sets to 4. Special mention must go to Saleena Gurung.

Unfortunately due to bad weather the the first and second team's fixture against Duke of Yorks had to be postponed. However this was follwed by The Granville League Tournament.
As our first match was postponed we were extremely keen to play this tournament.
There was a very fine drizzle throughout the afternoon, but we managed to complete all the matches.
There were four schools taking part and each

Fastpitch is more than a team, it is a family. In or out of the field, everyone knows how to connect with one another. Despite that the fastpitch lost many seniors last year, the underclassmen have stepped it up to fill in those spots.Freshman Megan Bellusci says “ a little bit nerve racking, but it is a lot of fun, and I can look up to anyone to help me out if I have questions.” Everyone is super supportive with one another, even if they lose or win. Sophomore Lauren Rassmessen says “ we build each other up, work together very well, we are all good friends, and even before a game we keep each other pumped up.” The Fastpitch team has created an amazing bond with one another. They have two enthusastic co captains, Shelby Starkovich, and Emily…

We changed everything we could in two months and went to World Finals with a more serious and competitive mindset than ever before. We were driven by the feeling that we had fallen short at State Finals, which ultimately allowed us to place sixth in the entire world. We faced teams from countries all over the world; ironically, the team we were most concerned about was the one from our own home town, who was not as successful at World Finals. Although coming in behind a rival team may not seem like failure to some, it provided me with a very real life lesson; I learned that when you are beaten, you have two options: give up or push yourself…

I come from a small little town called Schuylerville but sports were still very important at my school. I was always a big part of that. Our school is mostly known for our field hockey team. When I was in seventh through ninth grade everyone talked about them. We had this awesome team that went undefeated for those three years. The leaders of this team were a boy and a girl (even more specific a brother and sister combination). Jared (an 8th grader in the beginning of this run) and Abby (who was in 10th grade) lead the team. It was amazing to go watch them play and you would see half of Schuylerville there cheering them on. In Schuylerville you were pretty well known if you played sports. No one will ever again get the treatment that Jared and the girls on that team got. Abby is now a senior for North Carolina and Jared is now on European traveling teams. Everyone in my town thinks that the streak ended because Jared was not allowed to play after a certain age or after his body mass became too strong for the high school girl's hockey league. I guess we will never know how much longer the streak would have been alive. For a little while, in this one small town, girl's sports actually got the recognition that it deserved.…
