There is also medical malpractice that can affect the physicians as well as Hospital Bass. Dealing with lawsuits such as malpractice, negligence and discrimination can cost hospital hundreds to millions of dollars in lawsuits. Therefore, the directors and CEO have to decide what the safest and cheapest route is to move towards. Lastly, they are also other financial ramifications and concerns that can occur, such as going over hospital budget, which can cause employees to lose their jobs or cause a decrease in medical supplies and technology, affecting overall patient care. These issues relate to the conflicting values between the stakeholders because whichever way the administration turns, either the patients or the employees will be affected by the decision. For example, not hiring more Spanish-speak employees will affect patient quality of care. Patients may become sick, injured, or die due to the lack of Spanish healthcare providers. This will cause medical malpractice suits to be filed against the physicians and the hospital. Next, there is the concern of employee layoffs. In other words, the administration has to value their patients’ concerns and hire new employees who are bilingual. Unfortunately, the employees who are not bilingual and are not protected by the hospital’s union may have to be let go.
