I initially considered Lewis and Clark Law School, as it seemed like a natural choice after attending Lewis & Clark College as an undergraduate, and never leaving Portland. Although I am considering moving from Portland for law school, I would be happy to stay here and continue to enjoy all this city has to offer. I love the beauty of the Pacific Northwest, and am already acquainted with the gorgeous forest surrounding Lewis and Clark, which is a great place for a peaceful walk to clear one’s head. I also appreciate many other things this city has to offer from delicious food, and especially coffee, to friendly people.…

There were multiple unknown eyes staring at me, waiting quietly to introduce myself during a law camp in the summer. My palms become cold and sweaty at the same time as I struggled to think of words that would make me sound intelligent and appealing. I only had two options: either make this the most boring week, or the best week. As I started to speak, I made a conscious decision to ensure that I stepped out of my comfort zone and amaze everyone, be less conservative, and communicate. Stepping out of my comfort zone allowed others to notice the qualities I project. Like that week in the summer, I will try to describe them again; my personality traits and strengths, weaknesses, and my future goals.…

Loyola University. A school I want to be a part of. Loyola was the first school I visited, and one always remembers the first school that they visited. As my mother and I walked through the polar vortex, we encountered another daughter and her mother. We introduced each other, and it ends up that we used to live in the same area of Chicago; Oak Park. She told me that she was already accepted and was greatly considering committing. I started to get excited at the idea of being accepted to college, especially Loyola. I was beyond satisfied and happy by the tour of the campus. Our tour guide was a Sophomore at Loyola, and his energy really radiated. He explained that the sizes of most classes are small, and that allows professors to get to know their students by name and much more than classes of 100+…

College will give me the opportunity to experience culture and history that I would never find in my community. Bellarmine University really emphasizes studying abroad, a prospect that really appeals to me. Being an avid reader, I have read about a myriad of places around the globe, which I can only imagine and long to see. The community I live in now lacks diversity and excitement; the thought of seeing different cultures and hearing different languages excites me. Golf is a global sport, and I have dreamt about playing on the historic St. Andrews course, where so many great golfers have teed up. Having the opportunity to see the world, I will have a better understanding of how the world works, and I will be better at serving those around…

The purpose of college is not only to prepare yourself for a career after college but to discover what you are truly passionate about. As a freshmen student, I find it difficult to find something within the field of engineering that I want to make a career out of. Unfortunately, the limitations of fulfilling a required core curriculum and being overlooked by companies for an internship makes it hard for freshmen to test the waters and plan an academic and professional future. I feel studying abroad is one way in which I can learn about the different paths engineering can lead to, all while broadening my cultural horizons. I am particularly interested in this course because Italy and nuclear engineering are two things that I would like to explore.…
