Stranger Than Fiction Questions
1. What is the point of few? There are 2 different points of views in the movie. Because Harold is being narrated by an author it is third person. Since Harold is also talking to many people directly it is also first person.
2. Describe the setting of the film. The setting takes place in a large city. Throughout the movie Harold goes many places including his work at an IRS office. In the professors office where he meets with him. Along with his home also the author of his life’s home.
3. What kind of irony is used in this film? Verbal & Dramatic irony are used in this film because Ana says that she hates Harold in the beginning when they end up falling in love. Dramatic irony is used when the author Karen narrates his life a few seconds before things happens.
4. Who do you think is the most interesting character? I think professor Hilbert is the most interesting character because he identifies that Harold’s life is a novel that someone is telling, which cleared up confusion at the beginning as to what was taking place in Harold’s life.
5. What is your critique for this movie? Overall I thought the movie was descent. Liked how is tied in with elements of fiction which in an English class. Thought that math was going to play a larger role in the movie since he would envision numbers at random times, in restroom, height of objects, etc. Wasn’t a huge fan of the ending because it is unreal that an author’s book would dictate a real person’s fortune.
