A major stressor in my life is school. I find that this particular stressor triggers a sense of fear. I’m always worrying about getting into the nursing program, passing all my classes, and having enough time to complete all my assignments and study for tests. A coping skill I currently use to help me with this is time management, although I could use it more intensely. Also, I feel that using mental imagery and visualization would be an effective relaxation skill to employ. I could visualize myself in the future, working as a nurse and this would allow me to gather my thoughts and make a day-by-day game plan for how I will get there.
Another thing that I find to be on my mind a lot is money. Although I don’t have too many financial problems, it seems like once I one unexpected thing, like a car problem, taken care of, another issue arises. This makes me fearful because I know that I need to be able to pay for necessary things and this makes my budget very tight. I find that using creative problem solving as a coping skill helps me to create a budget that is more flexible. I can look at my income and find ways to increase it, such as getting more hours at work, or borrowing from my parents if need be. To relax, I could use any number of meditation techniques in order to gather my thoughts and calm down.
My health is an occasional concern for me. This elicits a feeling of fear because I do not want to be unhealthy. Although I try to eat healthy and exercise, I sometimes find it hard because I do have a busy schedule. This is where time management could
