Student Leader Application
Student leader application

A student leader is someone who is mature, dedicated and enthusiastic. These qualities are only three of the many that I posses and would like to develop further. In addition I am extremely good at listening and understanding my peers. I will put this skill into use when trying to figure out the main issues affecting the staff and students at Willowfield school.

The experiences I gained whilst taking on an active role in the mock trial at Enfield Magistrate Court, developed my understanding of how we face problems in both our community and our school. This has inspired me to try and make a change and I believe by becoming a student leader I would be in a position of authority where I can help change our schools for the better.

My skills in mathematics highlights my ability to think logically. I came first in our school in the UKMT maths challenge, which shows I am a good problem solver. This will help me when I encounter problems as a student leader such as working out changes that need to be made by looking at data and statistics.

I have also taken part in the Jack Petchy speak out club. From this club, I have learnt speaking skills. This experience has developed my confidence which is a vital attribute to a student leader. Attending this club every week shows my organisational skills, which I hope to implement as student leader.

I believe that I am a very suitable candidate to become student leader as I am passionate about the students' say in how the school should be

At the most rudimentary level, a leader is someone who leads other. But what makes someone a leader? What is it about being a leader that some people understand and use to their advantage? What can you do to be a leader? A leader is a person who has a vision, a drive and a commitment to achieve that vision, and the skills to make it happen. These leadership traits are broken down further into seven beneficial habits in Sean Covey’s book “The 7 Habits of highly Effective Teens” and the fundamental base of leadership found in the 40 developmental assets. The main things that made Douglas a highly effective leader are family support, caring, integrity, school engagement, begin with the end in mind, put first things first, think win-win and synergize.…

I am passionate about being a leader because I see leadership as the product of responsibility and experience. As a former student leader at high school, I believe the meaning of campus leadership is to provide high quality services for the students and the parents. Also, leaders need to exchange ideas from each other, so they can make the community a better place for students to live and study. I am always seeking for opportunities to help people and enrich my experience, and I believe I will make great contributions as a leader on MICA campus.…

The reason I, Terrence Patrick, want to be a leader is because I feel that leading is what I was meant to do. Ever since my sixth grade year I have wanted to be a leader in any organization I could be in. At Meadowbrook Middle School I was the trombone section leader for two years which were my seventh and eighth grade years. I felt that with myself in charge of the section I would do everything in my power to better it and make it successful. I also was the president of the “Safe Ambassadors” program where I had to control and lead the group of individuals to mentor younger students. These things have encouraged me to audition…

Since the beginning of this school year, I have been visiting La Cumbre twice a month to help coordinate school events and elections and advise students about leadership. This experience has allowed me to make a difference in my community by helping students grow, while growing more myself. My hope is that, in the future, leadership programs involve all students. I believe that school leadership needs to be representative of all the demographic groups, not just the…

I haven’t been involved with ME to WE but I have been included in other community/school events. I went to the ‘YRDSB OUR VOICE: THE WAY FORWARD’ conference. This conference was very beneficial because it was a student-lead conference. It allowed us, students to use our voice and speak up. At the conference, I realized how important it is to use your voice in a positive way to help people. You don’t only need to use your voice; you can get your message out in any way, media, arts or verbally. I learned that student voice is important because, we are the ones who are the future to making our world a better place. When I went back to school, after the conference, I had a tiny activity planned with my class about bullying and speaking up. With my teacher’s permission, I explained the activity to my class and they did the activity. Even though there were 2 months left of school, I could see that my classmates were starting to speak up. Even though I only had an impact on my class, it’s better than nothing.…

We Day is an annual "youth empowerment" event organized by the Free the Children charity. Held in cities across Canada and the United States, We Day motivates youth to take action on local and global issues. Since 2007, thousands of Canadian students have attended We Day events, which feature speeches and performance from global leaders, social activists and public figures.I think that my attendance at WE Day 2014 will have a positive impact on our school this year because I believe that if I go, I will be able to take information and bring it back to the school and try to make a change, locally and even globally. I believe that this is a huge opportunity. This conference is very beneficial because it is a student-lead conference. It allowed us, students to use our voice and speak up. At the video we watched, I realized how important it is to use your voice in a positive way to help people. Throughout my high school career, I have been given numerous opportunities to lead other students by example, work ethic, volunteerism, and school involvement. I believe that my greatest impact as a leader in high school has been through my participation in a Service Learning Class. This class gave me the chance to help and lead others by tutoring younger students in the middle school and elementary school. As a senior, I felt responsible for providing a voice for the class in ideas and decisions to help better our school. I worked with administrators, teachers, and class members to promote healthy habits of responsibility, school pride, respect, and service.…

Leadership is not only in a school setting but other professions requiring one or two people to direct others in a beneficial path. Pursuing a degree in administration forced me to reflect on the characteristics I see best fit when leading staff in the correct direction. Leaders are not born overnight, but take time to grow and perfect. Leaders not only are driven to benefit themselves, but also have a force behind them for the benefit of the entire school.…

A leader sets an example in rehearsals and performances, and that means to lead by example. During and after school, a leader should be deferential and respectful to their peers. This is especially important off campus, whether with the band or individually, because one is representing Clark Band. A leader should be known as dependable, admirable, honest, responsible, and much more. I understand many people want to contribute this, but I would be a better asset because I have many goals for this year, and a lot of motivating for meeting them.…
