I was flushed with the same emotions a year later, while contemplating my associate of science diploma from Georgia Perimeter College, my BBA diploma from Mercer University less than 2 years after that, and recently, my 4 reports of passing results for the CPA exam. The thing is, ever since that day when I received my “green card”, a transformation took place within me. The fears and complexes of a young Ivorian male immigrant vanished, and left a void to be filled by a burst of courage and hope. It felt like a new beginning, and I was invigorated by an ardent will to explore and exploit all opportunities. I recognize those same fears and complexes in the faces of middle school international students during my Junior Achievement lectures. I can relate to their struggles with social adaptation and peer pressure. I strive to be a role model for those kids especially.
I’ve been working for the same company for more than 5 years, starting from an entry-level position in customer service, and growing through 2 promotions into my current accounting role as an analyst in treasury.
