Love is something that almost every individuals wants to have, yet it isn’t always easy to find and or keep. However, there are different ways a person can love, such as I may not love my close friend the way that I love my husband. Our text states that there are six different styles of love which include the following; Romantic love (eros), Game-playing love (ludus), Friendship (storage, philia), Logical love (pragma), Possessive, excited love (mania), and Selfless love (agape) (Rathus, Nevid, Fichner-Rathus, 2011).
1. Scenario: Selfless love
Amy is an individual that make sure that she always does the right thing throughout life. She will make whatever sacrifices need be to make sure that she is able to take care and do what is needed for those she loves such as her family and friends before she does anything for herself. This is what selfless love can be described as.
2. Possessive, excited love: (mania)
Drew is madly in love with Crystal and love to always be around her and talking with her. When Crystal goes out with the ladies and doesn’t instantly message/call Drew back, he get quite sick. Also, in some instances, Drew isn’t able to sleep due to how much he really loves Crystal. This is what Possessive, excites love can be described as.
In both the scenarios, each of the individuals are trying to look for love, but each is different due to what they are basing their love on. Amy is looking for love, but is willing to except the bad and good that may arise, as Drew is so in love with Crystal that he is willing to spend every waking second with her.
The styles of love that are prevalent within my love relationships are, Selfless love, Romantic love, and friendship. An example of romantic love would be when I first met my
