Summary Of A Diary Entry On An American Ship
Dear Diary
Its 1687 and I just left Barbados and I’m heading to Connecticut and I’m coming to live with my family who I never met .They are unaware that I’m coming. On the ship, I met Nathaniel Eaton, the first mate and the Captains’ son. I also met John Holbrook who is coming to study in Connecticut and I also saw the Cruff family. A little girl I saw on the ship named Prudence dropped her doll in the water I dove in after it. All the passengers got mad and a lady named Goodwife Cruff says that I am a witch because I didn’t sink.

Dear Diary
I’ve finally got to Connecticut and I inform the captain that my aunt and uncle don’t know that I’m coming. This angers the captain who needs to haul her seven trunks and find her aunt and uncles house.

Though surprised and shocked my aunt gives me a warm welcome. My uncle Matthew was not so welcoming, especially when he saw my seven trunks of clothing. It was then when my Uncle Matthew realized that I’m not here for a visit but I’m here to stay. I told them that when my grandfather died I had to sell everything to pay all the workers from the plantation. I also told Uncle Matthew I have no other place to go.

Dear Diary
I soon realize that my clothing and possessions do not fit into a Puritan
Connecticut lifestyle. My cousins were Judith and Mercy and they have a lot of fun trying on my dresses. When my uncle comes in they get in a lot of trouble and they return to doing their chores. I began to learn how to process wool. I find that the chores never end and I’m not very good at any of them. I overheard my cousin
Judith complaining about me. She said that she rather would have a boy as a cousin than a girl. I felt very

“Alright, Julie, I will,” said Mr. Bixby, frowned, buttoning his linen shirt, “He is probably just excited to get this job, I suppose. I will talk to him later, but I need to dash now.” Five new indentured servants under Mr. Bixby’s name were supposed to arrive at James Port today. Though the masters didn’t normally go and fetch…

There isn’t much to be seen from the ships as we are so far out, but from what was coming back from the landing, not much was to be imagined. Wounded men were pouring off the sets of rowboats being pulled by the steamboats. Many of the soldiers were unrecognisable.…

“Surrrr-sure.” Evelyn slurred stumbling once more. Sebastian lifted her up like she was a feather and pulled her close to him; his white t-shirt smelled of eucalyptus and lavender, the scent soothed her. They slowly walked down a small dimly lit path, the crickets ceased as they passed. “So tell me… Why did your family move to Whale Cove?”…

Diary Entries: Harold Henry Abbott Enlistment: 10th March 1915 I can not believe I have actually done it. I have officially enlisted myself to fight for Australia in the war two days ago, it still quite has not sunken in what I have done. To be quite honest I was reluctant in my mind to do it at first. Reason being is I am quite comfortable back home with my job of being a Brushmaker.…

This passage towards the end reveals a storyteller telling the tale of slaves working through rugged conditions on a plantation. Nevertheless, they would soon go on to glory as some of which couldn’t stand the unbearable circumstances that were forced upon them. In addition, the storyteller described a few situations that slaves had to endure throughout their time spent on the plantation’s cotton field such as: nurturing an infant while proceeding in harsh labor and confliction between slave and slave owners.…

We first came to the colonies four years ago, among an unnamed ship coming our farm near a town in south-east england called Canterbury. Although we started to get ready in Canterbury, we had first go say goodbye to family in Thetford, a town about four-hundred and twenty kilometers away round trip. Our cousin Thomas Paine seemed quite convinced that something was bound to go wrong, and that going to the colonies was a large blunder on our part. On our way we crossed the Thames near Dartford on horseback, carrying nothing but extra garments and food for the trip, for we were to return to Canterbury to finish collecting our things and then depart for the colonies. I, Magnus, and my sister, Genevieve, were both hoping to make many new friendships in this new place.…

“I am around seventeen now and had come to realize that my old dreams of returning home would never happen, and that my family were either dead or working on those horrible plantations, that I had so narrowly escaped being sold to. My master was truly kind and I came to love him, like all the other servants.” He was getting old now and ill quite often, so his only son returned home to care for him. The servants were all relieved to find that he was just as kind as his father. When Rain’s master finally passed, his son took over the estate and offered to release them from his service, but Rain along with the rest of the servants, knew that they would only end up being resold to plantations or other homes, so they all agreed to stay and serve him as they had his…

My least favorite relative is my aunt. When I lived in Burma I used to be good friends with my cousin. We used to hang out during the school time. I liked her but I didn’t like her mother. They are rich people and they discriminate against the poor people. In the beginning we liked each other very much until I went to her birthday party. After that I felt that I didn’t like her very much. She invited me to go to her birthday party and I went with my whole family. When we walked close to her home she was looking at us through her living room window and she said, “Look! Look! The poor family and the thief children came to our home.” I felt so much pain when I heard her mother’s words. I became very angry and I told my mom, “Mom..! I want to go home.” My mom is very patient and has a good attitude all the time. She told me to be patient. After the party was over, my family and I went home with pain in our hearts but we tried to make each other happy and not to be sad. At the time I did not feel very much happiness so I didn’t want to be with my cousin too much after that. When I went back to school on Monday she asked me, “Did you have fun at my birthday party?” and all I could say was “It was a nice party and I hope you had happy birthday” but I had to hide my feelings and control myself. I could not let bad words come out of my mouth that could hurt her because she was my…
