I think notes can be a good tool, but they become ineffective when they are too long. I know it is a valuable skill because in College I am going to have to take Notes often. I like it when Teachers use visuals during the notes and give us an opportunity to speak.…
In addition, not everyone agrees that technology has a positive impact on writing. In the article “Is Google Making Us Stupid?” (2008), Nicholas Carr argues that the easy accessibility of information on the Internet doesn’t benefit people much. Carr believes this because the information provided on the Internet does not require much effort to look up, which affects the ways we read, think, and write on certain subjects (Carr) It is not always true. In the article “Studies Explore Whether the Internet Makes Students Better Writers” (2009), he reports on findings to determine whether or not technology has a positive effect on student writing. He quotes Stanford student, Mr. Otuteye and his belief on the effect of technology on student writing.…
Technology is more and more popular to the millennium because it's a click away. You are able to easily search to get the information which leads to less time and effort on the subject matter of the assignment. As the development of technology improve we are able to quickly with just one clicks of our finger and even operate a whole business without leaving the comfort of your home. The internet is so accessible to all ages and genders that the user of devoting your time and effort is cut down significantly on our study. Some might still resist the advantage of technology due to consequence makes us lazier, distraction, and the memory is worse because we no longer able to think deeper or think critically due our lack of understanding what we read, however one can adapt to the changes of traditional style with modern technology to improve their reading and…
Laptops in the Classroom 21th century is the world boon with and captured in technologies. Addicted life with technologies, technology natives do not realizes the problem of technologies. Although the most innovative technologies such as computers and phones brought efficiency to our world, now those are centered role of problems. As we can see in our society, technology cannot stray out from our life. It is already constitute a whole.…
Later in the article NPR uses a rhetorical question to illustrate how even though we are rapidly advancing in technology we might need to stick to the basics. As the author finishes up his arguments about note taking strategies he ask the question, “Do studies like these mean wise college students will start migrating back to notebooks?” he wants to make sure gets his points across about the best style of note taking. The author wants…

The article "Cursive Is a Powerful Brain Tool" claims that writing by hand helps students retain information better than typing. Though this may be true, a student can type more of the information on a computer than he or she would by writing it. Having more notes and more detailed information to look back on later would have to out weigh the benifit of absorbing the information thru writing it.…
In my opinion, both arguments make valid points. In the excerpt "Cursive Is a Powerful Brain Tool", it states that psychologists found students learned more if they handwrote notes instead of typing them. Although that may be true for some, its a biased argument because we don't know how many people were surveyed to find that out. Not everyone learns the same, so cursive cannot be helpful for everyone. When I was younger I was taught cursive and told that I would be using it for the rest of my life. But here I am now typing an essay on a computer instead of writing it on paper.…
In Cullington’s essay he talks about how texting is a bad influence on students who use its text speech in their writing, but does not really effect students focus nor grade because they do not mean to do it purpose. I disagree with his statement, and in my essay I used some of his points to bring out how it does affect students writing and focus causing them to get that bad grade. The influence technology has on students today is huge. Therefore, it is more important for teachers to enforce how to write well, especially since technology is so immersed in our lives.…
Do you know that if you wright in cursive you develop one side of your brain that is not developed by basic reading and writing skills. And kids need to be writing by hand more often because, when they wright by hand there brain is absorbing more info than if they were typing on the computer. If teaching cursive is eliminated from schools, children will miss out on having there brain learn something new. The world is becoming more and more technology dependent.…
The opening paragraph provides a great deal of information about the essay and I think your final sentence, the thesis, is strong. I clearly get the point that technology is expanding in our lives, especially in the education sector, but I would suggest you explain why handwriting is not being emphasized in school any longer. I understand that the use of computers is prevalent in many classes in school now, and I believe our children are the better for it. However, can’t teachers still teach handwriting? Maybe it needn’t have the emphasis it had when I was in school a long time ago or with so much concentration on neatness. The children should learn the basics but, other than the nostalgic items, like Grandma’s love letters, why would a child need to learn cursive?…
Finally, having the right tools to write. Typing is easier then writing in a piece of paper. Using a computer is a great device to accomplish writing more effective because my writing is legible and clean. For example, in the computer I can organize my writing by erasing, copying, pasting. Where as writing in paper sometimes I need to scratch and start again ending up working a messy paper.…
The students that told me that they preferred to learn from “hands on activities” was because they believed that learning from “hands on activities” is easier to implement learning. Whereas, the students who said that they preferred to learn visually believe that it helps them understand and break down information they wouldn't be able to comprehend, and to help them store vital information in their long term memory. Those students that prefer to learn by note taking told me that by taking notes helped them summarize the information and helped them break down information that they couldn’t quite comprehend. Even though most of the students that I had surveyed told me that they prefered to learn from “hands on activities”,…
Fourthly, With todays education system most involved parents would agree cursive is still very much needed. Studys have shown those who type there notes have performed worse on a test than those who writing them. This maybe the fact that your nero pathways in your brain are carved by the repetitive writing of the notes, but it shows that typing doesnt help students but hinders them. For example in my years of taking notes i had typed them once and found i didnt really know the information as if i would have by writing them, when writing my notes its almost like something fires in the brain which causes memories of even the smallest bit of…
Also Stated in the artical "Students in both high School and College are explected to turn in typed, rather then handwritten papers." Technology is dominating the way we communicate, Cursive is a dinosour but the medical reasons behind it are substantial to the ones of…
