Gary Paulsen wrote the book Brian’s Winter which was published in 1996. Gary Paulsen was born on May 17, 1939 and became well known as a young adult author who focused his writing on the wilderness. When he began writing, he resolutely to move to a remote cabin in northern Minnesota (Softschools.com, 2005). Brian's Winter is about a young boy who wanted to go back to the woods where his plane crashed and left him the only survivor of the crash. He was interested in going back into the woods considering he enjoyed that environment more than the city.
