In “How to Mark a Book,” the author, Mortimer Adler encourages readers to “read and write amongst the lines” of the book, the author convinces readers to understand that it is an act of love marking a book and doing so will help you in different ways. a book brings out all thoughts that come to one’s mind because when is read consciously will lead you to different perspectives and opinions about the topic but is also telling us that buying so many books and having an amazing library that doesn’t means that you have a mind enriched by books because you can’t buy knowledge, and because of that Adler explains that there is three types of book owners. Third, which is the only one that ended up owning the book is the reader. Adler also emphasized that respecting a book only by its magnificent binding will compromised a real connection with the author and if that is the case buy a cheap book, because is not the book it self but the content of it. Furthermore the author stated that it is imperative to be awake while we are reading and reflecting about what we are reading because reading must be active and great books demands it. Adler also suggest to always read with a pencil because doing so will make words and sentences more discernible to your mind and that will help you to remember better, creating notes in the margins top or bottom on any page is like resuming an interrupted conversation between you and the author and that will make you become an intelligent reader ,
