This man versus man story shows the theme because Percy encounters monsters that seem humans, but in the end they end up being monsters and causing trouble. “Standing behind us was a guy how looked like a raptor in a leisure suit, he was seven feet tall with absolutely no hair… he moved towards us slowly… I'm Crusty” (Riordan, 277). Percy, Annabeth, and Grover fight the obstacles (monsters) by looking out for each other because sometimes the monsters seem like regular people and blend into regular life.
