Summary Of The Mandate For School Counselor Leadership

In the article, The Mandate for School Counselor Leadership, the story about the waterfall resonated with me the most. From my perspective, the waterfall story has real implications and consideration for me as a school counselor. As a new counselor, I desire to save as much children as possible by being their advocate. However, trying to save as much children at one time may not be as effective. “The only way to save the babies is to lead and advocate for systems change” (DeVoss & Andrews, 2006, p.7). Examining the integral thinking model, advocating for a system change is a more effective way to saving more babies than attempting to catch all the falling babies.
