In the, “The seventh Man” by Haruki Murakami is a short story about a man called the Seventh man when he was a little boy who experience aberrant events of death of his friend K during typhoons in Japan. He claims that for long period of time he suffered mentally because of his friend’s death and he could not save him from typhoons. “They would come to me now and then, like debt collector at the door. It happened whenever I was on the verge of forgetting,” (Murakami #141). After the Seventh man experienced death of his friend K, the seventh man suffer physically for short times and suffer mentally for long period of time. Because of survivor’s guilt he is keep remained of his trauma. Even he tryings to forget, his trauma get remind because of survivor's guilt. They believe survivor's guilt helps survivors to move on from what the survivors experienced. However, they are mistaken because survivor’s guilt actually keep from person to move on their life. “I’ve been in love with several women over the years...but I’ve never married.” (Murakami #). After the experience of death of K, seventh man could not move on with his life for long time because of his guilt, survivor’s guilt. Even he been in a love with women he could not get married he could not forget his experience of death of friend. Survivor's guilt makes survivors to stuck on their trauma and not letting them go on survivors’ life for long time or even their lifetime.
Survivor should not the one who feel the survivor's guilt and suffer. Survivor did not cause tragic events or it was not what they wanted. Basically it was not their fault and it is illogical to that survivors have to suffer mentally or physically for things they did not do or they did not desire. Also, survivor’s guilt makes survivors more miserable, because survivor’s guilt is practically is reminder of survivors wounded experience. All in all, survivor's guilt is an illogical and survivor should not feel survivor's
