Describe the policies and procedures of the setting to promoting children and young people’s positive behaviour.
There are different ways in which we can manage children’s behaviour and guide them to show positive behaviour in our work settings. A behaviour policy is a document that is legally required at Henry Moore Primary school. A behaviour policy sets out how the staff team intend to manage children’s behaviour. There are procedures in policy of what staff should do in given situations e.g. if a child swears or if child bullies another child.
Codes of conduct: Henry Moore have a code of conduct, this relates to how the staff should behave and another one outlining the expectations for children and young people.
Staff code of conduct: the way we (adults) behave can influence children and young people to be more aggressive in the way they deal with situations.
A Positive School/Classroom Climate
In our school we try to teach children how to behave and to increase self-confidence and esteem and in some cases to change their behaviour patterns by example and with a positive approach.
We use a wide range of reward techniques.
* Star charts
* House Points
* Smiley faces
* Stickers
* Continual praise for good work
* Praise in front of the class
* Good work assemblies
* Award Assemblies
* Children are sent to the Head teacher / Deputy Head / Phase Manager with good work for a reward sticker.
We believe that the "tone" of the school and classroom is very important. We like to provide the children with a pleasant learning environment. The school is attractively decorated. It has modern, good quality furniture and resources within. We try to display equipment attractively and to make it accessible to the children giving each thing a home. We like to display the children's work and to give the children a sense of pride in
