Vocabulary #1 1. Cursor- A cursor is a flashing symbol on the computer screen that shows where the information or where have entered will appear.
*Cursor-If you look at the screen the cursor should be somewhere on the monitor.
2. Keyboard- A keyboard is a piece of hardware connected to a computer and used to input information or instruction.
*keyboard-The keyboard I use is made by Dell and I use it for typing. 3. Computer Hardware is mechanical, magnetic, electronic, electrical components making up a computer system. The mouse, the monitor, the keyboard, CPU tower are all computer hardware
*Computer Hardware-I see computer hardware everywhere in this very room.
4. Computer Software – The program or instructions that tell the computer what to do. Microsoft word is Computer Software.
*Software- Software is programs that can be used such as Microsoft word.
5. LastFirst#- This is the format that you use when you save your work. Type your last name starting with a capital letter, then your first name starting with a capital letter and then the number of the assignment. There are NO spaces and there are 2 capital letters!
* Lastfirst# should be used when saving documents or other things on your Computer
Filtering Software- All the computers at Sunnymead Middle have Filtering Software. This means that inappropriate searches and inappropriate websites will be blocked. However, if you do an office and your parents will be called.
* Filtering Software will tell the teachers everything you’ve looked up.
