Teacher Assistant Reflection
An issue I developed was indeed a minor issue, but I believed it was important enough to be addressed to the teacher assistant. The first essay due date was approaching and I had already established a decent rough draft so I was simply asking for the teacher assistant to review it before my final submission. Through the experience I encountered a bit of anxiety, I was trying with to best of my ability for the email to sound courteous and respectful but while addressing the problem, but in my case a more so request. I learned through the experience that being respectful will almost always get you a quick, immediate reply. I also learned that being at detailed as mostly referring to the problem can help prevent multiple emails back and forth. Towards the specific guidelines we discussed in class, I made sure that I inserted a helpful subject line which was a new thing to me. …show more content…
Another specific guideline I applied from class was me giving him a timeframe for what time I was available, I’m sure that made it a lot easier on the him and it also prevented unnecessary emails back and forth. I assumed this teach assistant receives handfuls of emails so being efficient with my email probably made it much easier on him. I received a response shortly after explaining what time would be best for him and how he would be reviewing my essay according to the rubric. He had seemed to have given me the same respect I had given him. This application experience can help me past college as someone day I will most likely have the need to send important emails for my profession. It can be difficult trying to sound respectful over an email, as the reader has no vocal or visual cues to judge my appearance

    As a teaching assistant I am part of the wider team of teaching staff in a school. Everyone has different roles and responsibilities and this can sometimes lead to conflicts. On one occasion I was working with an EMA class doing role plays in a hall. It was the last lesson of the day and we were using the interactive white board. In order to resolve the conflict I suggested we carry out the activities that require the white board early so that the coordinator could come in towards the end of our lesson and set up the film. This solution was accepted by all. I felt I dealt with the situation constructively.…
