Educators can be great teachers as well as great learners. Everyday educators are learning different ways to inspire their students to learn Technology is one way that the educator are using to inspire their students since computers are one of the main technology that the students know how to use in the classroom. In the article, “The Importance of Classroom Usage in the Classroom” states that “Technology is not central to the teacher preparation experience in most colleges of education”. (Office of Technology Assessment, 1995). They do not know how that the computer can help even if a child had a disability. Another report states that the connection between teachers and technology was a wakeup call. Technology was becoming so important that teachers had to go back to school for training and way to use them in the classroom. One cold morning a young man by the name of Cyrus was awoken abruptly by his alarm clock. He had spent all the previous night playing games and browsing the internet. He took a shower, ate, threw on his clothes, a Carhartt and went out the door. He went inside the school feeling miserable because he knew he had seven hours left before he could do anything remotely fun again. The extremely disappointing thing is that Cyrus wasn’t the only one. Everyone else walking in the bland metal doors felt the same way. Cyrus ran into some friends, greeted them coldly, and continued to his classroom in room 217. He sat in his seat and set down his twenty pound backpack and pulled out his textbook, notebook, and pen. From there he repeated this six more times. After the long day was over Cyrus had to lug the twenty pounds back home. After he had gotten home Cyrus changed into his work uniform and went to his job at Burger Town. At ten o’clock he came home and did homework till eleven at night. At this point Cyrus was exhausted and just wants to go to bed. A single day may physically drain this young man, but thirteen years of this will emotionally exhaust him.…

The world will keep advancing on the same technological path; therefore, students must be surrounded by the growing advancements in technology to be successful in the workplace. In the social media survey (personal communication, March 29, 2017), 93 percent of respondents said that technology based learning is beneficial to schools. At this day in age, the use of technology has increased greatly. It is continuing to get more advanced day by day. For example, the first cell phones used to only be able to make calls, now they can take pictures and/or video, surf the web, and they even have voice control so that you don’t even have to use your hands! If someone was to say the word “future” to most children, they would think flying cars, aluminum clothes, huge mirrored buildings, and talking robots. For generations, people have pictured the future to be some miraculous, world changing experience. With T.V shows like The Jetsons and Futurama putting crazy ideas into American heads about the future, America as a society has played up how the “future” was going to look. Nobody today wears aluminum suits or has flying cars however; we are now in the future – we live in a world full of modern technology. Things like computers, hybrid cars, trips to outer space, and hand held devices that children today seem to be addicted to all make up this world. How did the world become so advanced? The answer is, good schooling, core fundamentals, and care and compassion from the educators. Just because Americans live in a technologically advanced world does not mean that Americas’ education needs to be revised. In an ever changing country, it would be safe to say that within the next fifty years America will see another change in technology such as vehicles and even simple devices like cell phones. Living in such a fast pace world creates the need to understand that when it comes to education, children yesterday, today, and tomorrow, will need to be taught the basics – core fundamentals such as reading, writing, spelling, and mathematics are still necessary. Furthermore, schools should encourage teachers to use technology sparingly and focus on traditional teaching methods for core learning. Technology of Today That may be a subjective question. But it’s likely that many educators would give answers that fall in the same ballpark, students collaborating and discussing ideas, possible solutions, project-based learning, designed around real world contexts, connecting with other students around the world, on topics of study, immersing students in a learning experience that allows them to grapple with a problem, gaining higher-order thinking skills from pursuing the solution. To many educators, these notions are music to their ears. Would it seem terribly strange then to hear that students indeed are doing these things regularly outside of their classrooms? While Timmy or Susie may not be running home from school saying, “What fun, deeply-engaging learning experience can we do today?” they are engaging with new technologies that provide them with the same opportunities. Every day, many students are spending countless hours immersed in popular technologies such as Facebook or MySpace, World of War craft, or Sims City which at first glance may seem like a waste of time, and brain cells. In the 21st century, if schools truly are preparing the students for the workforce, schools must reconsider what technologies should be adopted and imparted to the students.
