    Tituba Monologue

This scene is important to both the text of the play and the film adaptation, and serves similar purposes in both. For example, it signifies the rising action of the film as it includes the first of many false accusations and confessions. In addition to the importance this scene has to the structure of the play, it is also a pivotal scene for both Tituba and Abigail. For Tituba, this scene is her brief rise to power. Her confession ensures the town’s trust in her, making her arguably the most powerful member of Salem. However, Abigail sees not only the power that Tituba gains through her confession, but also the potential that she herself may have to influence the town. In general, this scene conveys the leverage over other members of Salem…

In the second quarter of the 17th century, French Jesuit missionaries converted many Mohawk to the Catholic faith. One prominent convert was Kateri Tekakwitha, who was the daughter of a chief’s daughter.…

He held it lightly in his hand and let it stand up right in front of Trevon’s rugged face. Danny was circumcised tightly and his cock head flared out wide with a very defined crown ridge.…

Their use of distinct tones, structures and voice further their arguments which are surprisingly similar in that they both acknowledge the role of refusal in resisting marginalization. Despite both authors effectively defending and bringing attention to their arguments, some weaknesses remain relatively apparent. At first glance, Audra Simpson’s ethnography appeared to have the largest handicap. With an overly academic voice, many of her points were awkwardly presented and it felt like much of what she was saying got lost in the minutiae of her overly complicated sentences which often spanned many lines. In one instance, Simpson hopes to emphasize the importance of a genealogical connection to the topic of her ethnography (Simpson 97). Much of this statement comes off as vague and wordy which makes it especially difficult for the reader to comprehend. Where the effectiveness of Simson’s argument was limited by her academic voice, this same voice seemed to assert the presence of the Mohawk on another level. Simpson’s connection to academia as asserted through her expansive diction and complicated writing structures stood as immovable forces symbolic of how the Mohawk people have established themselves as immovable. This style of writing is distinctly assertive and powerful which draws a parallel to Audra Simpsons statements. Likewise, Jason De León’s greatest weakness is also…

The bitter night Avah was killed the whole town was out celebrating. The Spring Festival was an annual affair and only the most isolated of persons would have not been there. It was a festival meticulously planned out by those intrigued in such matters and each detail was carried out to exact perfection. The Humphrey family would perform a skit each year at exactly six-thirty, the mayor would grace the audience with a well-planned speech at six-forty-five. At seven o’clock the potluck dessert would be brought out by the women and then once a half hour had passed, enough time for the people to converse with each other, the festival games would begin.…

It all started with a call, two plastic cups and a string that is attached to the bottom of the cups. Just by placing your ear on the plastic cup while the other person talks from the other side. It was simple and quite childish at the same time, seeing little kids pretending to call each other, but never really used one in her childhood. While moving into her new apartment and settling into her room, a plastic cup with a string was neatly placed on a telephone holder. Wondering if the previous person who lives here had accidentally left this thing and forgot to bring it with them.…
