Term and Teamwork
When I was a child my friends and I made forts in trees, the woods, living rooms, we had a whole hierarchy, and everyone had a job to do. These forts were never built unless we worked together. So teamwork is important, for playtime, and survival. This raises questions one what exactly teamwork is. Is it an idea, or a natural process? I asked my old coach, Jennifer Ewbanks what she thought team work was and she said, “Teamwork is a thing that leads students together, making them work towards a common goal.” I think that is an excellent way to put it. Teamwork has to do with working towards a common goal. When people get a job it is likely that they would have to work as a team, to get a magazine together, to get stuff done. I asked a friend of mine I was on cross country with how teamwork affected him, and he said: “I used to be a nobody; I used to sit in my room and surf the internet, until I was introduced to this sport. I got so many friends, I wasn’t very good at running, but I had a lot of fun.” That’s the kind of thing teamwork does to a person. It introduces them to a bunch of people, and gives students a purpose, this friend, whose name is John, is now in college and still is friends with much of our teammates. Teamwork also helps with your leadership and social skills. Being surrounded by people who rely on you causes you to become more of a role-model. You learn to lead, as well as talk to others. It kind of creates with whole family structure, without the sibling squabbles. My sister was on cross country with me in high school, she used to be a mean person, openly insulting those that live to her standards. After being on the team she discovered that there are many types of people, and hardly any of them will ever conform to her expectations, so she learned to live with that and now she is a much friendlier person. Teamwork changes people, and helps them to become worldlier. Every student should be part of a team at some point in their high

My most significant experience in working as a part of team occurred when I was apart of the softball team. Without my teammates I wouldn’t have learned all that I know now about softball today. I was familiar with the softball players. We helped each other improve, whether it was with running, practicing drills, catching, or throwing. We never left a teammate behind. During practices we all ran as a team. During games we also chanted when the batter hit the ball. With out my team I wouldn’t have been as good as a softball player. So to me with teamwork come new friends and wonderful coaches.…

Athletic programs have building blocks that an individual can use for the rest of his/her life. These building blocks put character in a person. Team work shows that it is not only the quarterback that makes up a football team, or a point guard on a basketball team, or a pitcher on a baseball team, it is the entire team that makes the team successful. Team work also allows the players to keep a positive state of mind, which is very healthy for the players. When a player knows that every player in the team is working together, they are motivated to drive them self as an individual to be the best that they can be for the good of the team.…

When it comes to teamwork, most people will consider teamwork in terms of being part of a baseball, basketball, or football team. In contrast, a team is “really just a group of people who use their skills, experience, and knowledge to work toward a common goal” (Beverly K. Bachel, 2007). Teams working together in the workplace are extremely productive and profitable. Teams working together increase problem-solving skills and innovation, quality, and decrease turnover and absenteeism. (Scarnati, J 2006) Teams have an overall high success rate when well structured and the communication between the team members stays open throughout the project. A team is a collection of individuals who have gathered to achieve the same…

All of the traits that I have acquired from being a team player have helped me tremendously. For example, in school, if a teacher gives me a hard assignment, I know that if I put in the hard work, that I will have success with it. If problems are hard, even in math, they are something that I have to push through. I can compare these challenges to a third and goal in the last quarter of a football game, with only a few seconds remaining, and all the team needs is a touchdown to win the game. Also, it’s important to remember that just like a team comes together to reach the goal, you don’t have to reach your goals by yourself; your family and friends will work together to help…
