Terry Branstad is the 39th and 42nd Governor of Iowa born November 17, 1946 in Leland, Iowa, he went to the University of Iowa and has a law degree from Drake University Law School he was drafted and served in the United States Army from 1969 to 1971 he also served three terms in the Iowa House of Representatives from 1973 to 1979 he married Christine Johnson on June 17, 1972. The couple has three children – Eric, Allison and Marcus – and seven grandchildren On December 8, 2016, Branstad accepted President Donald Trump's nomination of him for the post of United States Ambassador to China (PRC).

Hagenow is the Majority Leader for the Republican caucus and also serves on the Administration and Rules, Judiciary, Legislative Council, State Government, and Ways and Means committees. As Majority Leader, Hagenow is second in command of the Iowa House and controls the floor during session. Hagenow holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Northern Iowa and a law degree from the University of Iowa. He was first elected to the state house in 2008.
Mark D. Smith (born January 5, 1952) is the Minority Leader of the Iowa House of Representatives and the Iowa State Representative from the 43rd District. He has served in the Iowa House of Representatives from 2001 to 2003 in the 64th District and since 2003 in the 43rd District. He received his BS from Graceland College and his MSW from the University of Iowa. He is employed by the Substance Abuse Treatment Unit of Central Iowa (SATUCI) as the Director of Special Projects and is an adjunct instructor of Social Work for the University of Iowa.

Watts (born July 26, 1944) is the Iowa State Representative from the 19th District. A Republican, he has served in the Iowa House of Representatives since 2003. He received his BS from the University of Wyoming and has did MBA work at Drake University and at Creighton University.
Clel E. Baudler (born April 4, 1939)is the Iowa State Representative from the 20th District. A Republican, he has served in the Iowa House of Representatives since 1999. Baudler was born and raised in Fontanelle, Iowa and resides in Greenfield. He served as a state trooper with the Iowa State Patrol for 32 years.
Greg Forristall (born February 15, 1950) is the Iowa State Representative from the 22nd District. A Republican, he has served in the Iowa House of Representatives since 2007. Forristall was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa and was raised and resides near Macedonia. He completed coursework in computer science and international marketing at Iowa Western Community College and earned bachelor's and master's degrees in music from the University of Iowa.
David Sieck (born June 27, 1957) is a member of the Iowa House of Representatives. Sieck, a farmer from Glenwood, Iowa, won a special election in February 2015 to fill the seas being vacated by Mark Costello, who was elected to the Iowa Senate to fill the seat formerly held by Joni Ernst.     The current United States government is a Federalist Republic government, where the states all have less power and the central government have most the power. The central government is comprised of a 2 house system, the House of Representatives and the Senate. Texas has it the same way also, the Texas House of Representatives and the Texas Senate. Marc Veasey is a member of the Texas house of representatives in district 33 which includes parts of Fort Worth, Arlington, Grand Prairie, Irving, and Oak Cliff.
