Organisation One - Tesco A stakeholder for Tesco may be someone that has the job of affecting their organisation either in a good way or a bad way. Below are listed main stakeholders in a business.
-Workers
A worker at Tesco is someone who has a clear interest in the business they are working in. They tend to rely on work for their income, bonuses, discounts and holiday pensions. This meaning they either like or do not have to like their job but they are still working because they need it to live by. Although they are helping Tesco by a significant amount they may take this as a chance of security for their futures.
-Managers
A manager's role is to manage the people who do actually do the work. The manager is there to make the group more effective than they would be without him/her. This meaning that the work done by the actual workers should be a reflection of good management by the managers. This makes managers responsible for anything positive or negative being carried out by the workers.
-Customers
A customer is the recipient of a good or service. They are the main reason a business like Tesco is able to sell goods. If there were no customers, there would be no one to retail to therefore no profit will be gained. Customers are the most important stakeholders and need to be kept happy to ensure that they continue to purchase goods from that particular supermarket.
-Suppliers
Supplies ensure that goods are distributed to the business. This can also be referred to as the distribution channel which is the path through which goods and services travel from the vendor to the consumer. A distribution channel can be as short as a direct transaction from the vendor to the consumer, or may include several interconnected intermediaries along the way such as wholesalers, distributes agents and retailers.     The prohibition was brought on by the strong temperance movement happening in America in the early 1900’s. These groups were devout Christians who vowed to be sober as they saw the affect alcohol had on families. But the members of this movement campaigned for everyone to give up alcohol. The arguments of the Temperance groups were so strong that they eventually convinced state governments to prohibit the sale and produce of alcohol in their state. Politicians backed this movement as it secured them votes in the rural areas, and by 1916, the sale and production of alcohol had been banned in 21 states. USA’s entry into the war strengthened this movement, as drinkers were being labelled as ‘Unpatriotic cowards’ for not entering into the war. The fact that Germany supplied most of the countries alcohol also helped the movement, as Germany was seen as the enemy. Despite the great efforts made by the government, the sale and production if alcohol didn’t entirely cease. People all over the US started making their own alcohol, these were called ‘bootleggers’ People also set up illegal bars selling black market alcohol and providing entertainment, these were referred to as ‘Speakeasies’ and made a fortune. Over the 13 years that the prohibition lasted, over 37,000 illegal distilleries, or ‘stills’ were shut down, and nearly 23 million gallons of illegally produced or imported alcohol was seized. Nailing down a manager’s specific job duties or performance requirements can be somewhat tricky since the job title involves so many different kinds of work. Every manager is at his or her core a leader, though, which is where most responsibilities originate. Planning and group-based organization are key parts of the job; supervising, mentoring, and motivating lower-level workers is important, too. A manager is often called upon to act as the outward “face” of the people he or she supervises. It is often the case that leaders need to drum up support for their team’s work, often by building connections with outsiders. This sometimes comes in the form of fundraising but can also concern publicity or political support. In large companies management is usually divided into three tiers, namely, upper or senior level leadership, middle management, and lower-level supervision. The “lower” tier includes managers who operate at basic levels of commerce or function.
