In Texas Hold-Em poker, the deal is one of the biggest components in the game.
It uses both luck and a certain sense of structure in order to make the game as fair as possible. Each player is dealt their three cards at random which evens the playing field. They are randomly dealt one card at a time until they each have three total cards. Since these actions are taken before the big betting becomes prominent, it shows that the game lies in the hands of the players more than it does on luck. All the big money gets hit when the dealer’s cards have some sort of match with the player’s card. It’s easy to say that the player just got lucky, but was it really luck? I believe that the player manipulates and sets themselves up to hit the jackpot. The more thoroughly the game is observed, the easier it is to recognize the amount of skill and strategy that goes into being a great player. Poker culture is about skill and
strategy.
The coolest part about poker is easily the bluff. I believe that the bluff is so neat and interesting and really adds a cool component to the game that no other game can provide. Some players wear sunglasses to hide their eyes and cover their “poker face”. This shows that it is not only an intriguing strategy, but it’s a well thought out game. This isn’t a skill, it’s just one of the many mind games played throughout a game. This was very interesting to me to examine. It not only shows the actual strategy, it shows the subtle nuances of the game that makes it the most interesting card game.
