This happened in Afghanistan in 1996-2001. The Taliban and the Afghan people were part of this historical event and they were enemies. The author is teaching how women’s rights changed when the Taliban invaded Afghanistan. “Banned from going to school or studying”, This quote is from the article Women in Afghanistan. Every sentence basically says the same thing, that they are banned from studying or even leaving home. “I can go to school” Said Nooria. On page 136.
