At the start, Anya had accidentally fallen into a well, and it was then that she discovered the skeleton of Emily, and later her ghost. At first, she was terrified of Emily, but after learning that Emily was only lonely and looking for company, Anya warmed up to her, and was less terrified of her, evident in Anya making conversation with Emily. Emily, on the other hand, is happy to meet Anya, since she has been alone and stuck in the well for a long time and is looking for a friend, suggested by Emily “just [being] hospitable” to Anya, and helping Anya escape the well by waking her up. Thus, Anya and Emily’s relationship was now one of acquaintances keeping each other company for a while.

Thus, she confronts Emily, who warns her not to place the bone that keeps her anchored to Anya back into the well and threatens her through harming her family members. Anya decides to place the bone back into the well, and Emily is angry when she does so. When Emily decides to take revenge once and for all, Anya convinces her that reliving her life through Anya is a futile hope. Emily, on the other hand, finally realises the futility of her hopes, and tearfully decides to not haunt Anya anymore. Thus, Anya and Emily’s relationship ends off with them understanding and forgiving each other.
