The Cherubim In The Bible
Cherubim’s were first mentioned in the Bible in Genesis 3:24 (NIV), “After he drove the man out, he placed on the east side of the Garden of Eden cherubim and a flaming sword flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life.” The original meaning of the term cherubim is unclear amongst scholars, but thoughts are that it means either gatekeeper or intercessor (Hays, 2010, p. 202). “The function ascribed to these heavenly servants of God's Majesty is that of throne-bearers, or "carriers", of His Divine Majesty” (Knight, 2012). A consistent theme of the cherubim is the depiction of them guarding the entrance of places where God meets His children (Hays, 2010, p. 202). The four living creatures Ezekiel describes are later revealed to be cherubim. The cherubim’s have four wings, bright as …show more content…

202). Isaiah 6:2 describes, “Above him were seraphim, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying.” This imagery alludes to the seraphim flying around the throne of Yahweh. The seraphim are similar to the cherubim, the difference is the seraphim has six wings, and the cherubim has four (Hays, 2010, p. 203). Revelation 4:8 also mentions seraphim, describing them as six winged creature that are covered with eyes. Day and night the seraphim are singing, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty,' who was, and is, and is to come.”
The Bible mentions in Isaiah, Ezekiel, and Revelation similarities of the cherubim and seraphim. They both are described as being covered with eyes, having wings, and they worship God day and night (Hays, 2010, pp. 202-203). Yahweh is showing His Almighty power when he reveals the cherubim, seraphim, and the His glory to Ezekiel. This helps us understand that God is not only in the temple, but He is everywhere in the earth (Hays, 2010, p.

I also thought the illustration of the High Priest’s robe in the Old Testament symbolizing witnessing or was a ringing testimony for the Lord. As a member of the royal priesthood (1Pet. 2:9), our witnessing should be a ringing testimony for Jesus Christ, the Lord of Salvation. Our witnessing is not limited to a specific location but is…

When we think of God, we think of greatness, domination and creator of the world. God is believed to be so powerful to the human race. In the film, God is portrayed by Tyrell, creator of the replicants. Tyrell poses information that will never be revealed to replicants. Similar to humans, God poses information that humans never know. Roy, a replicants refers to Tyrell as the ‘God of Biomechanics’. The location in that particular scene exaggerates the idea of heaven. Tyrell lives luxurious compared to replicants who live in run down buildings. The room is brightly lit and golden which gives you the impression of a cathedral. The music in the background sounds like a choir; normally you hear this in a church or cathedral.…

The first 39 books of the larger work called the Bible, is called the Old Testament. The Bible itself is arguably the best selling and most read book of all time, yet it’s well known to be quite challenging to read through and understand. The Old Testament portion of the Bible, notably the most difficult portion of the Bible for most to study and follow, yields 39 books from multiple authors, and spans over 4000 years of crucial world and church history. If that were not enough to take on, the Old Testament comes our way through multiple styles of authorship and formats, including but not limited to, books of history, law, proverbs, ethics, philosophy, treatises, dramas, songs, epics, biographies, and letters. There have been many books written and published to survey, explain, and/or bring to light the Old Testament, but none more helpful to me than the review subject of this paper, the work of Dr. Elmer L. Towns, entitled “A Journey Through the Old Testament”.…

I have grown up in a home that goes to church every Sunday, I’ve done all the Christmas plays, and memorized my memory verses. Now that I am older, I am able to look deeper in religion. Some people get offended when you say “mythology of Christianity” because when you say mythology they think “fake” and “Greek Gods” but in reality, mythology in this situation means story or even history. We know the basis of creation and how God made the Earth, people, and nature but where did all of the “stories” come from? In the passage below you can find the beginning of the most popular religion on this Earth.…
