The Civic Issue Of Racism
Racism is a long-lasting civic issue that bothers many people. Racism is the belief that a race is superior or inferior to another race because of their predetermined inborn biological characteristics. Racism has existed throughout history. It has influenced many significant historical events such as wars, slavery, the formation of nations and even legal codes. The majority of conflicts that occur around the world are caused by racism. Racism is not as big of a civic issue as it was decades ago but that doesn’t mean that it doesn’t exist in our world today and something should be done about it. In modern days people fail to the seriousness of racism and its impact on people who face it.
People don’t take racism seriously since it’s ”2017”
and it’s no longer an issue and fail to release that racism is more than just what in the heart of a person at the moment of a racist act, but can be an idea developed over time as a result of what that person is exposed to. For instance, the patterns you see in news article titreleasing about tragic shooting that occur if the person doing the shooting was black he is a “thug”, if he was white it was caused by a “mental-illness”, if he was arab he is a “muslim-terrorist” and he is asian then he couldn’t handle the “pressure from both parents and society”. These ideas develop over time when causes a person to be prejudice overtime and commit unacceptable hate crimes. In Canada more half of the 1401 hate crimes committed in were motivated by racial ethnicity.
In conclusion, racism should be taken more seriously and should be taught from various perspective because it's only when people understand one another that the world can reach a state of peace.
