The Consequences Of Using The Death Penalty

31 out of 50 states use the death penalty. There are so many reasons why the death penalty is backwards. Well the first thing is, judges can make mistakes. A little bit over 4% of people on the death row are actually innocent. How would you feel if you or a loved one was truly innocent and was on the death row? You would pray that judge would see that they weren't guiltily before their sentence has been done. This is truly unjust for the innocent people. Even if one innocent life is taken that is far too many. The death penalty is extremely expensive. Death penalty cases can be 20-30 years. Have you ever thought about how the basic utilities are paid for. Well the courtrooms are paid for by the state and the state gets
money from taxpayers. Do you really want your money going to paying judges, janitors, lights, and all those other things. It is a better use of tax dollars to insure that every child has a place to sleep at night and a healthy meal. There are many people on the opposing side of this argument, so I will tell you why their wrong. One of the reasons people are for the death penalty is if the person/people are dead then they can’t repeat their horrendous crimes again. Let's hear why that's wrong, first of all everyone makes mistakes. Some mistakes are worse than others, but still, what if that person would have been the next Einstein, or maybe the next Michael Jordan. Maybe it would have the person to find a cure for cancer. Every person who is on this world is on here for a reason, now they can never contribute what they were meant to do. As mentioned before, the death penalty is horrible and should be demolished. Some key reasons are, the judges make mistakes, it's expensive, and the person whom was killed could have potentially be the person to find a cure for cancer. So now all we need to do is find a way to eliminate the death penalty.
