Project Proposal
The conspiracy theory I have chosen to do my project on are the moon landing conspiracies. This particular theory is very interesting because of a couple reasons. The first reason is that there are many theories behind what actually happened, ranging from it not happening at all to it happening but not in the way that we were told. Another interesting thing is that the stories of what happened from the people involved haven't changed, and no one involved has claimed anything different than that we did land men on the moon. Scientists have also given detailed answers to the theorist's claims and that we're only human. This meaning that some pictures may …show more content…
have gotten accidentally mislabeled and some people's accounts of the story may slightly vary because of bad memory. Of course these fuel the conspiracy theories but from what I've read so far there is a lot of evidence pointing towards the moon landings actually happening. The main theories involved are: the landing was faked so the United States could win the space race, the landing was faked so that NASA would ensure it received more funding & to distract the public from the Vietnam War.
One of the interesting parts of NASA wanting to get more funding was that they raised around $30 billion dollars to go to the moon and some say this could have easily been used to pay off very many people. The first two theories are somewhat intertwined, the first says that the landing was faked in order to win the space race and then after that was accomplished, funding was suddenly cut. This ties in with the Vietnam War distraction in that funding was also cut around the time that the United States was ending their involvement in the war. The evidence supporting the overall theory that the landing was faked are in abundance but there is also even more explanations on why the so-called evidence is actually correct. One of the popular items of evidence, is that there weren't any stars in the landing pictures and that the astronauts said themselves that they had not seen any starts. The explanation behind this came to be that the landing was during the lunar daytime, of which the sun outshone the stars making them invisible. This theory is important because space is very unknown to us for the most part and at the time the space race and funding were key issues and possible motivation. It's also important because it's such a big part of history and such a big accomplishment, not only for the time but still
today.
