This play is a perfect example of a morality play because throughout the play many of the characters tell on each other and many of the characters are greedy throughout the entire play which is considered to be wrong to society, and the author aims for the reader or audience to see what the problem was throughout the play so that they can see the lesson or the good that they trying to teach you. As you can see, when Giles Corey accuses other people for taking the land that he “rightfully” owns, but in reality he did not own the land he was just greedy and wanted the land all to himself. Giles Corey wanted more and more land and was a greedy man. Another example of people being greedy is when Mr. Parris says “They will howl me out of Salem for such corruption in my house”. This is an example of him being greedy because while his daughter is not conscious, he is worried about himself being kicked out of the town and getting kicked out of his position as reverend. Giles Corey was also showing greed when he was gaining money and land from the people who were accused. There are many examples of people telling on each other all throughout the play. For instance, Thomas Putnam tells on people to get them in trouble because he was angry with the town because when his father had died he wanted more than he got. A great example of both, telling on people and greed, is when Giles Corey tells on numerous of people in the town and he takes what he can for them; he does not get caught doing what he does because the people are so used to it happening, they do not even realize that he is doing wrong. A perfect example, throughout the play, the characters tell on each other because they are scared of the consequences that come with what they have done. You can see the wrong which is the characters telling on each other. You can also see the two lessons that are trying to be taught during the play.
