The Crucible Giles Corey Quotes

Giles Corey and Stacey “More weight.” This quote was said by Giles Corey, a character from the crucible, while he was in the process of being prosecuted for contempt of court in the Salem Witch Trials. While in jail, someone accused Giles of being a witch. He was later pressed to death with rocks. Giles Corey and I have a few personality traits in common such in that we are loyal to or friends, stronged willed to an extend, and humorous people. Gile Corey and I have similar traits such as being loyal. In The Crucible Giles can be named for being a loyal friend. Giles shows loyalty when he is in court and he refuses to give and names to the court. “I will not give you no name. I mentioned my wife’s name once and I’ll burn in hell long enough for that. I stand mute.” This quote from The Crucible shows Giles loyalty to his friend. If Giles had shared their names in court, all of his friends would have been hung once they were brought into court. I am much like Giles because I am also loyal. One way that is show loyalty is by not sharing any secrets my
friends tell me. All of my friends tell me secrets and I never share then because I am loyal. Having integrity is to being honest and to stay true, like I am to my friends. Another way to be loyal is to respect people and let them know that you would do anything for them. These are some ways that Giles and I share the trait of being loyal. “More weight” is a quote from The Crucible and it means that Giles was willing to die for what he believed in. In front of the town, he was stripped naked and had a board placed upon his chest. Everytime he denied to give out his friends names, a heavy rock was placed on his chest, soon enough killing him because he would not say “Yay or Nay”. I am strong willed like Giles because I do not give up on anything. In softball, you have to work hard to become better and this is what must be done to succeed. They say practice makes perfect, but that is false. Perfect practice makes perfect. Another way that I am strong willed is by not letting other people's opinions affect my own. willed. Giles is often mentioned as being humorous, as am I. When Putman claim it’s a lie that he had his daughter accuse George Jacobs. Giles says “ A fart on Thomas Putnam, that is what I say to that.” This quote from Giles makes you crack a laugh because he was a funny man. I am also humorous because I make funny jokes. In any situation I am very capable of saying a funny joke, usually involving a pun, it happens to be very “punny”. I am also humorous because i make funny hand motions when I tell stories and when I get mad. People find it very funny when people reenact what happened , so I usually do. These are some ways Giles and I are humorous. Being loyal to our friends, being strong willed people, and being funny are three traits that Giles and I share.
