The democratic style leadership is a team effort, the democratic style leader will make the final decision, and however he or she will seek input from the group, and allow other to contribute to the overall effort and of mission and goals of the department (Warner, 2014).

approach is the hot item in today’s law enforcement with predictive analytics and data driven policing it’s a democratic style leadership and a overall team effort. Where administrators should be mindful, is to align the diversity within their agency along the same lines of the population in which they represent. Many departments today are utilizing the Compstat approach, and many times when the data suggest that enforcement efforts go into a certain area, you can be certain many of these areas are not of the affluent class of people. Therefore, many times claims can be made of racial profiling, targeting specific areas, and if your department’s majority of officers are White in a mostly Black or Hispanic area, it could make for a good argument for the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) for profiling.
This policy no doubt diminishes crime; it is a shift from reactive policing to proactive police enforcement efforts.
It appears that the crime rates speak for themselves showing a large decrease in the rate of serious crimes as well as murders in measuring them from 1990/2011 (Smith, 2012). The New York City Police Department (NYPD) is using a data driven approach in crime reduction and placing their resources in the right places at the right time that they feel crimes would be the most prevalent, the program is called Compstat. This type of program can be responsible for drops in the crime rates from five to fifteen percent (Hickey, 2015). If the NYPD went back to a more conventional style of reactive policing there is no doubt that the crime rate would begin to increase very
rapidly.
