Poseidon was always very moody and unstable (“greek mythology”). He was often also very violent. He used his power in the sea for revenge on his enemies. When he was insulted, he would always find a way to avenge himself. When Odysseus blinded his son Polyphemus, Poseidon sent several storms to delay Odysseus’ return from the Trojan War. Poseidon also cured the wife of King Minos. King Minos had asked Poseidon to send him a bull from the sea to sacrifice in his celebration as ruler of Crete. But King Minos liked the bull so much that he refused to sacrifice the bull. Poseidon was so angry that he asked Aphrodite, the goddess of love, to make his queen fall in love with the bull.
