In this essay, The Dog Ate My Flash Drive and Other Tales of Woe by the author Carolyn Foster Segal, gives us examples of excuses the students give for not turning in an assignment on time. Segal through her own experience as an English teacher explains and analyzes the examples. She explains how students use these excuses just for the purpose of earning a little more time doing homework. The author represents these excuses in different categories, The Family, The Best Friend, The Evil of Dorm Life, The Evils of Technology and The Totally Bizarre.
