But yet, the white rich people is not being affected by the toxics in their communities. The text states that ‘’separate residential limits or districts for white and negro residents’’. This shows that U.S. minorities have been placed in separate areas for a long time as noted in the article.”he found blacks overrepresented in areas with toxins, hazardous waste storage facilities and sewage treatment plants’’.That’s a shame because why are they putting all of this toxic waste in

“The absence of full-service markets and the even more limited food choices available in low-income communities have emerged as crucial food justice issues” (Gottlieb, Joshi). Thus, it is not by accident that communities of color and low-income communities lack the access to full-services markets. There is a beneficiary motivation by corporations and the government who plan to extract and benefit from communities of color at the cost of their health and human rights. I have hard the term environmental racism before; though I don’t know the academic word for word definition of it, I sure understand the concept of the term and what it stands for. One example I would like to use to explain environmental racism is the recent example of the Flint Michigan water pollution. The predominantly minority populated city was not only supplied with polluted water, but ignored as if this phenomenon was not of anyone’s business. The city was left devastated from this occurrence and thousands of citizens had health issues because of the ignorant and racist governance of the city and state. This is where environmental racism comes into play, because if Flint was a city with a majority white population would the same exercise of power and ignorance would have…

Even though racism is and has always been an issue, we don’t often think about all the ways it can affect people of color. One example of this is environmental justice and racism, this is where corporations dump environmentally hazardous or degraded elements, such as toxic waste, pollution and urban decay near low-income or minority communities (Environmental Racism 2012, 1). It’s another unjust way African Americans have been and still continue to be treated. Many families have grown up in danger of being affected by these harmful substances and haven’t had a fair say when it comes to the accumulation of waste proximal to their area. From the early 1920s-1978, more than 80% of Houston's garbage landfills and incinerators have been located…

This shows that environmental racism has been affecting the health of minorities. One example that proves this is “Around the country, numerous health studies, including a decade-long study by the South Coast Air Quality Management District in the Los Angeles basin, have shown that people near major roadways and ports suffer more severe health problems then people elsewhere. Children have a greater risk of impaired lung function, and babies are more likely to be born prematurely or with lower weights. Near major transportation routes, the risk of cancer is higher due to diesel exhaust and other air contaminants. Around the world, fine particles generated by vehicles and industry…

Environmental racism is a huge probelm and the government is making it seem like the rich countries and more important. “when rich countries can edit the poor out of the most important document on the gravest danger facing Earth”(Source 3:13) This means that noone thats rich is really serious about this situation and could careless about what the poor people and families are going through. “ But, as i wrote recently, there are certain people- particularly those with large concentrations of melanin in their skin, and smaller concentrations of money in the bank- who are suffering more of that fuckery than their less-melanated, more-resoured counterparts” (Source 3:2).”Many rich countries argue that $100 billion a year is an unrealistic demand;”(Source 3:8). Both of these statements show that people and many other families have to struggle because of racial discrimination. It's hard to see that people of color cannot be treated equally because their a different skin…

Living in a neighborhood of color wherein there is no preference for people with low income, represents a socio-historic process where rising housing costs, public policy, persistent segregation, and racial animus facilitates the influx of violence between black and white menace as a results of residential displacement which is otherwise refer to as gentrification. This has however deprived many citizens of the United States, a good quality of life as it boils down to an argumentative issue between the rich and the poor balance of standard of living. Poverty and pollution are both bad. Poverty is the lack of the things we need for everyday living. Everyone needs the following in order to stay out of poverty: food, water, shelter, education, medical care and security. People that do not have these items are considered below poverty. People that live in third world countries do not have access to these things. There are at least 4.4 billion people that live in these third world countries that are stricken by poverty. Out of the 4.4 billion three fifths or more do not have any type of sanitation. Over one third of these people do not have access to clean water. When it comes to having shelter there are about a quarter of them that do not have this. Modern health services can be very few to come by in a third world country. Over a fifth of these people do not have any access to a doctor or hospital. Many people in a third world country have never even seen the inside of a school. With this being said what can we do? We can help out by taking the time to be sure that we help everyone.…
